AdaptAbilities is a registered charity that provides one-of-a-kind programs and services empowering individuals with special needs to grow, succeed, and belong. The organization is looking for dedicated volunteers with a shared vision to join the team. Volunteer Relief Care Specialist – Hearts In Action Summer Camp
Volunteers are integral to the operation of the organization allowing us to provide the highest quality of support to the people that we serve. They are a part of the front line team supporting goal directed respite programs and services. Volunteers assist Relief Care Specialists (RCS) in providing reliable, consistent, and quality care that enhances the experience for each individual. If you want to make a difference in a young person’s life VOLUNTEER TODAY.

Responsibilities
 Provide a fun and exciting environment
 Develop and facilitate genuine relationships
 Facilitate a supportive and caring environment
 Build positive rapport with participants
 Assist RCS in creating a successful environment
 Focus on the individual’s growth and development
 Learn about individual’s interests, abilities and needs
 Support RCS in the delivery of respite services
 Assist RCS in setting up and carrying out planned activities
 Assist RCS in ensuring centre materials and equipment are well maintained
 Ensure the facility is kept safe, clean and organized
 Fulfill duties as requested by the Team Lead or RCS

Qualifications
 A shared passion and vision with the organization
 High level of professionalism
 Ability to connect with children and young adults who have special needs
 Clear Security Clearance Check and Children and Youth Intervention Record Check
 Must be willing to attend required training sessions and orientation

Conditions
This seasonal position takes place July through September 2016 with opportunity to continue throughout the year. Shifts are scheduled between 7:30 am – 6:00 pm.

A bit of history...

AYV (Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! Society) was started in 2006 by some awesome peeps not unlike yourselves. They were looking to volunteer but couldn't find any information on how to do it. Being go getters they decided that Alberta needed an organization just for youth to help us find our own information and opportunities!  AYV is an organization run by youth for youth!
