Danika McDonald – Board Chair

Danika has been with AYV - Action Generation for almost 2 years. Starting out helping with committee work and finally being roped into Board Chair, a position that has been an exciting and educational opportunity. Danika works in a creative capacity as an associate for Canadian Strategy Group and feels passionate about making community and volunteering a fun, cool and creative experience for everyone! In addition to AYV, Danika spends her time singing in a seniors glee club and is killin it!

Garner Beggs – Vice Chair

Garner is co-owner of the now famous Duchess Bakeshop in Edmonton, Alberta. Garner has been with AYV - Action Generation for almost a year and has quickly risen to his current position of Vice Chair. Garner is dedicated to providing indulgent wonderful joyous moments in everyones day by catering the people of edmonton with the immaculate confectionaries of his bakeshop. Garner likes to create community by bringing people together over the simple pleasures of life. In addition to Garners work with AYV, Garner is in the process of starting his own not-for-profit organziation to help foster, nuture and expand the Cocktail and Mixology culture of edmonton. 

Lucille Frost - Treasurer

Lucille Frost is a visual artist and arts administrator who has spent the last thirteen years building her practice in Edmonton Alberta. Over the last ten years she has actively volunteered within the Edmonton visual art community. Born in Edmonton and raised in Lethbridge Lucille identifies her home with the various landscapes throughout her native province and her relationship to this distinct natural beauty has continually been a source of inspiration within her artistic practice. Lucille is currently a student with MacEwan University in the Arts and Cultural Management Program  and finished her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta in 2012.

Karina Lamontagne 

Karina has more than 13 years of experience as administrator of non-profit organizations. Her experience is mostly in the field of early childhood development and family support with the French-speaking communities in a minority situation. She studied in teaching English as a second language and worked with youth and families since the beginning of her career. Her most precious fulfillment is the creation and the official opening of the first core French early childhood development and family support center in Newfoundland and Labrador. She is recognized for her leadership qualities and long-lasting development of partnerships.

Karina a plus de 13 années d’expérience en tant que gestionnaire d’organismes à but non lucratif. Son expérience est surtout dans le domaine de la petite enfance et support à la famille auprès des communautés francophones en situation minoritaire. Elle a étudié en enseignement de l’anglais langue seconde et travaille avec les jeunes et les familles depuis le début de sa carrière. Son accomplissement le plus précieux est la création et l'ouverture officielle du premier Centre de la petite enfance et supporte à la famille francophone de Terre-Neuve et Labrador. Elle est reconnue pour ses qualités de leadership et le développement des partenariats durable.

Rhea Kachroo

Rhea is going into her last year of a Bachelor of Sciences degree with a major in psychology and a minor in biological sciences. She volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, is the Vice President of the Centre for Autism Student’s Association, helps out in a psych research lab, and is an avid tennis player. She believes that encouraging youth to volunteer is essential to creating a better and more dynamic society. Rhea is excited to work with AYV to increase youth awareness and participation in the volunteer world!

A bit of history...

AYV (Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! Society) was started in 2006 by some awesome peeps not unlike yourselves. They were looking to volunteer but couldn't find any information on how to do it. Being go getters they decided that Alberta needed an organization just for youth to help us find our own information and opportunities!  AYV is an organization run by youth for youth!
