Volunteer Program - Job Description 

Position:       Driver

Report:  Coordinator of Volunteer or Executive Director

Purpose:       To provide SSCAS members with an affordable transportation service to appointments and outings


• Receive transportation assignments from SSCAS staff, volunteers or Ride Scheduler

• Transport and assist SSCAS members as booked

• Maintain and submit accurate transportation logs the last day of the month

• Attend drivers meetings, orientation and training as required

• Must call seniors and office when unable to make a scheduled ride

• All members, staff, and volunteers must be treated with dignity and respect


• Valid driver's license, abstract and Police Information Check

• Must be a member of SSCAS ($12.00 per year)

• Copy of insurance renewal must be provided to the SSCAS office yearly

• Must be physically able to assist members in and out of vehicle, and to and from buildings

• Pleasant and patient disposition

• Must sign Code of Ethics, Oath of Confidentiality, and Privacy Statement

• Must have access to a phone

• Under no circumstances shall the driver accept any monetary rewards



• Personal satisfaction of helping your community

• Opportunity to meet and converse with seniors and listen to their stories

• Continued use of your valuable skills and experiences

• Working in a fun atmosphere

• A vote at our Annual General Meeting

• Input into the development of SSCAS programs and services

• Opportunity to serve on committees or the Board of Directors

• Be and active advocate for seniors and senior’s issues

• An honorarium of $10.00 for each 1 1/2 hour trip


Preferred Commitment: Minimum six months; hours per week, will depend on your availability and number of requests.

AYV (Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! Society) was started in 2006 by some awesome peeps not unlike yourselves. They were looking to volunteer but couldn't find any information on how to do it. Being go getters they decided that Alberta needed an organization just for youth to help us find our own information and opportunities!  AYV is an organization run by youth for youth!
