Volunteer as a score keeper for the 9th annual Face Off Against Cancer hockey tournament fundraiser!

For this event, we are inviting 24 teams to lace up in the fight against cancer in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. The tournament features a NHL celebrity draft, in which the top fundraising teams get to add a professional hockey player or local celebrity to their roster of players or to their coaching line up. This year’s event will also feature kids entertainment during the day and a date-night themed celebration dinner on Saturday night.

Face Off Against Cancer has raised more than $1.6 million in Alberta in the past 8 years. The goal is to raise over $400,000 locally this year.

After our founder, Lyall Marshall, lost his wife to Cancer in 2007 he set to work to create this charitable hockey tournament in her honor and to provide a legacy for his daughter, Diamond. Sadly, this past year Lyall also lost Diamond to cancer. This is why the Face Off Against Cancer committee has designated this year’s funds to pediatric cancer research.

The Society funds pediatric research that will not only lead to more life-saving discoveries, but will also improve the quality of life of children who are diagnosed with cancer.

A bit of history...

AYV (Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! Society) was started in 2006 by some awesome peeps not unlike yourselves. They were looking to volunteer but couldn't find any information on how to do it. Being go getters they decided that Alberta needed an organization just for youth to help us find our own information and opportunities!  AYV is an organization run by youth for youth!
