Homeless for a Night

Homeless for a Night is about becoming more acquainted with the incredibly difficult reality that more than 500 youth in Edmonton face – homelessness.  Their reality is painted with fear, confusion, hunger, hopelessness, despair, struggle, loneliness, abuse, abandonment, and trauma – a reality that you probably haven’t experienced.

While the experience for participants comes nowhere close to the reality of actually being on the streets, the event encourages people to move a little beyond their comfort zone and imagine a life with far less luxury.

We challenge you to learn about the struggles that these youth face and to raise awareness by talking about it to your inner circle of friends and family as you raise pledges to make a tangible impact.

For one night we challenge you to go without the comforts of your everyday life and experience but a small taste of what every night is like for many youth.

Enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded people that have committed to stepping outside of their comfort zone. Unite and FIGHT the NIGHT together.

A bit of history...

AYV (Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! Society) was started in 2006 by some awesome peeps not unlike yourselves. They were looking to volunteer but couldn't find any information on how to do it. Being go getters they decided that Alberta needed an organization just for youth to help us find our own information and opportunities!  AYV is an organization run by youth for youth!
